The Jackson County Commission could not meet Tuesday for a special called meeting due to the lack of a quorum.
The meeting, which was publicized on Monday, was attended by only Commission Chairperson Sadie Bias and Commissioner Horace Clemmons.
Bias called the meeting to approve a job description and salary schedule for the county administrator's position which is currently vacant.
"This is the most important job in the county," Bias said. "We have to get someone in there who knows what they are doing."
Bias said last week the state auditors came to the commission office to audit the county's financial records.
"We were not prepared to be able to present our records to them," Bias said.
Bias said the county requested the Association of County Commissioners of Alabama send them samples of job descriptions for county administrators from around the state.
The personnel board met April 28 and approved a job description for the county administrator but could not approve a salary range. The commission is in charge of setting the salary range.
Bias said the state auditors have told her the county must have its records ready to present for the audit by the end of May.
The approval of a job description and salary range is listed as an item for discussion on the agenda for the upcoming meeting on Monday, May 11.
