Scottsboro police continue to investigate the death of a woman Saturday night on U.S. Highway 72 just west of the city limits.

Donna Michelle McCrary, 39, of Hollytree, died when she was struck by a vehicle traveling west bound in the 15000 block of the highway.

Jackson County Coroner John David Jordan pronounced McCrary dead at the scene shortly after the accident that occurred at approximately 10:50 p.m. near the Skyline Mini Mart.

According to reports from the Scottsboro Police Department, McCrary had earlier been traveling in a Nissan Pathfinder driven by Eddie Williams, 39, of Paint Rock. Roger Williams, 42, of Hollytree, also an occupant in the vehicle, was sitting in the front passenger seat.

McCrary was in the rear passenger seat of the vehicle. She jumped out of the vehicle into the roadway and was then struck by a Volvo station wagon, traveling in the same direction. Police are not releasing information on the driver or passenger in the Volvo. The couple was from Madison.
