The body of a man killed in a traffic accident on Alabama Highway 35 Monday morning is believed by Scottsboro police to be Nicnor Alvarez-Garcia, about 37, of Jackson County.
Scottsboro Police Officer Bob Pettey said other than that identification, nothing new had developed in the case since the investigation began Monday.
The victim was believed to have been a passenger in a Stockman Landscape/Lawn Maintenance pickup truck with an extended cab driven by Larry Stockman of Huntsville, who owns the business. He is a former mayor of Dutton and former district circulation manager for The Huntsville Times.
A spokesman at Huntsville Hospital said Tuesday afternoon that Stockman had been discharged from the hospital where he was taken after the two-vehicle wreck, which occurred near the Crawford Road intersection.
The name of another injured person in the truck with Stockman was not available Tuesday afternoon.
The driver of the other pickup truck involved in the accident was Rickey Willmon, who did not seek immediate medical attention.
Police said both pick-up trucks involved in the collision were traveling east, somehow collided and the Stockman pick-up ended upon a guard rail and the other pick-up's back end was up on a guard rail.
This was the first traffic fatality in Jackson County so far this year.
