Published January 23, 2007

Three people were injured in a two-vehicle collision at 8:35 a.m. Monday near Goodman Hollow on Alabama Highway 35 between Scottsboro and Section City Limits.

Capt. Ron Latimer of Scottsboro Police Department said Kimberly Brown, 38, of Boaz, driver of a 1989 Toyota Corolla traveling south up Sand Mountain on Highway 35 veered into oncoming traffic and was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet pick-up truck driven by James Robbins, 69, of Section.

Brown was flown by Air Evac Lifeteam to Huntsville Hospital where she was in the Intensive Care Unit late Monday afternoon, according to a spokesperson at the facility.

Robbins and his son, James Robbins Jr., 43, of Section were taken by Highlands Ambulance to Highlands Medical Center. The father was treated at the medical center and released. The son was admitted, according to a medical center spokesperson.

Traffic in both lanes of the highway were blocked for approximately an hour after the wreck. Ms. Brown was evacuated down the side of the mountain by ambulance where she was loaded on the Air Evac ambulance for transport to Huntsville.
