The Scottsboro Board of Education approved several personnel changes Tuesday evening, including the appointment of a new principal for Brownwood Elementary School.
Steve Green was transferred from assistant principal at Scottsboro Junior High School to principal at Brownwood Elementary School, replacing Alan Petty, who is retiring.
Gary Speers was transferred from assistant principal at Collins Elementary School to part-time assistant principal at Collins and part-time assistant principal at Scottsboro Junior High School.
The board voted to hire Russell Belote as assistant band director for the school system, replacing David Hobbs.
The board also approved the employment of Jason Amos as fifth-grade teacher at Collins, replacing James Harris, and Frances Coleman as a science teacher either at Scottsboro Junior High or Scottsboro High School. The board also approved the resignation of Alvie Roberts as part-time maintenance helper for the system.
