From bad to worse

Published October 23, 2009

A day after being arrested by Scottsboro investigators, the week hasn’t gotten any better for two Scottsboro teenagers.

Jackson County investigator Craig Holcomb arrested Brittany Nicole Young, 19, and a 17-year-old male juvenile Wednesday in connection with a theft that occurred on October 6 from a residence on County Road 26 in Scottsboro.

Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips said Holcomb recovered a 2006 Honda Foreman four-wheeler, stolen from the residence, at a local business on West Willow Street.

“It had been traded for a vehicle,” Phillips said.

Young and the juvenile were both charged with Theft First Degree.

A day earlier, Scottsboro investigators arrested Young and the juvenile in connection with stolen credit cards.

They were both charged with Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card, Receiving Stolen Property and two counts of Theft Third Degree.

At the time of the arrest, a stolen checkbook was also found in their possession.

Scottsboro investigator Chris Kirby said the two suspects allegedly stole credit cards in Skyline and Hollywood.

"They were trying to use them at various places in Scottsboro to buy gas," said Kirby.

Kirby said the credit cards would be denied, and the two would then leave.

Young is currently in the Jackson County Jail, while the juvenile has been transferred to the Coosa Valley Juvenile Detention Center.
