Seniors urged to be cautious

Published March 18, 2005

Senior residents in Jackson County are urged to beware of a possible scam.

According to Minnie Peak, former Senior Rx program coordinator, seniors are being solicited at their homes by suspects claiming to work with senior drug programs.

The suspects call or go to the senior’s homes and tell them they will help them get their medications free of charge.

Personal information is then obtained from the seniors.

Residents should not give any solicitor personal information such as social security number or bank account number. Peak said neither the Senior Rx Program nor her own NAS program will solicit door to door.
