Much of Monday's Jackson County Commission meeting will be devoted to the aftermath of the Feb. 6 tornado that ripped through Pisgah and Rosalie.
Jackson County EMA Director Victor Manning will update the commission on the ongoing clean-up progress in the storm area.
Aubert Hastings of the Scottsboro-Jackson County Rescue Squad plans to ask the commission for a donation to help replenish the squad's funds which were significantly impacted by their efforts after the tornado, according to Commission Chairman James Tidmore.
Jackson County Solid Waste Director Randy Webster will update the commission on the county's progress in distributing the new trash cans to residences.
The commission has also been asked to sign a proclamation declaring the month of April as Confederate History and Heritage Month in Jackson County. Tidmore said he has been told a chapter of the Sons of the Confederacy is forming in the Bridgeport and Stevenson area, which will make Jackson County the final county in the state to have a chapter. Jackson County's chapter reportedly disbanded in 1924.
