Dixie state titles elude local teams
Published July 21, 2009
The last hope for a local team to claim a Dixie Softball state championship ended Sunday afternoon.
The Sand Mountain Angels (9-10s) All-Stars put together a furious final inning rally, a rally that ultimately fell short as East Montgomery hung on for a 5-3 win in the Dixie Angels State Tournament at Scottsboro's Bynum Park.
Sand Mountain finished 2-2 in the tournament.
