Christmas Charities to accept applications

Christmas Charities of Jackson County will begin accepting applications for assistance next week.
The organization that provides help to families in need in Jackson County at Christmas will begin taking applications on Sept. 29. The process will continue at various locations throughout the county through Oct. 3.
People requesting assistance must meet 2008 HHS Poverty Guidelines to qualify. The monthly gross income for a family of one is set at $866.67; two, $1,167; three, $1,467; four, $1,767; five, $2,067; six, $2,367; seven, $2667; and eight, $2,967. An additional $300 is added for each additional person in the household.
The centers that will be accepting the applications are: Bridgeport at the Bridgeport Senior Center on Monday only from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Dutton at Dutton City Hall on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Langston at Langston Town Hall Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Pisgah/Rosalie/Flat Rock/Bryant/Higdon at the Pisgah Service Center Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Scottsboro and Hollywood at the Impact Learning Center (formerly Page Elementary School) Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Section/Macedonia at Section Town Hall on Thursday, Oct. 2 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Skyline at Cumberland Mountain Water Authority Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.; Stevenson/Fackler at the Stevenson Housing Authority on Tuesday, Sept. 30 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m .and on Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Michael Scott Learning Center from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.; Woodville and Paint Rock at Woodville Town Hall on Monday and Thursday only from 9 until 11 a.m.
Anyone wishing to apply should apply at the center nearest your home.
