Published January 30, 2007
One person was killed in a traffic accident on Alabama Highway 35 about 11:10 p.m. Sunday, according to state troopers.
The victim was identified as Benjamin Wade Hughes, 27, of Fort Payne.
Troopers said the accident occurred about one mile south of Scottsboro.
Hughes was driving a 1999 Jeep, which hit a guard rail, and he was wearing a seat belt, authorities said.
Jackson County Coroner John David Jordan said Hughes had been working in Huntsville with a cleaning service and is believed to have been returning home.
