Tubbs to seek District 3 seat
Published January 30, 2008
Interest continues picking up in Jackson County campaigns as Parks Tubbs confirmed Monday that he would be a candidate for the Jackson County Commission District 3 after qualifying begins March 24.
Tubbs retired in August of 2006 after being an agent for ALFA Insurance for 37 years.
Tubbs, whose brother Ed Tubbs held the District 3 commission seat at one time, said he feels like he has something to offer the county and the time to devote to the duties. He said his top priority would be bringing jobs to the area.
He stated it had been a lifetime dream of his to serve on the County Commission.
Tubbs lives in the Boxes Cove area. He could not be reached Friday in conjunction with an article in the Weekend Edition of The Sentinel containing names of various prospective candidates.
Carl Marona is in the District 3 position now and plans to seek re-election.
Offices of the chairman and all four districts on the County Commission will be up for election this year, along with the County Revenue Commissioner, Jackson County Circuit Court judge’s position currently held by Judge Jenifer C. Holt, Superintendent of Education, and places on the school board currently held by Jimmy Buff and Ralph Sisk.
