Rx program in need of employee

The Jackson County Commission approved contracting with TARCOG to hire a senior aide for the Senior Rx program at Monday’s commission meeting.
Commissioner Glenda Hodges told the commissioners that the Council on Aging employee who had been inputting data for the Senior Rx program is no longer working for the council. She also told the commission that it would be possible to hire a senior aide through Top of Alabama Regional Council of Governments (TARCOG), but TARCOG has asked to be reimbursed $750 per year for part of the employee’s salary.
The commission agreed that the employee is needed and voted to contract with TARCOG.
In other business, the commission,
•Approved an increase in pay at a cost of $50 bi-weekly for promotion of deputy to investigator;
•Voted to accept the resignation of James Britt from the North Sand Mountain Park Board. They also voted to appoint Keith Britt and re-appoint Carl Gray to the board;
•Voted to re-appoint Reginald Higdon to the North Jackson Water Authority;
•Voted to extend the county engineer’s contract for one year at the current rate of pay;
•Appointed Darren Blizard to serve as the commission’s representative on the Resource Conservation and Development Board;
•Voted to hire Christa Bell as receptionist for the commission office;
•Passed a resolution commending the Pisgah Lady Eagles and Coach Carey Ellison;
•Voted to accept the resignation of Jim Butler from the DHR Board;
•Voted to install a security system for the courtroom and judges chambers for Judges Holt and Grider;
•Announced there will be two vacancies on the Jackson County Park Board, one from District 1 and one from District 4, as of April 1;
•Announced that a public hearing will be held March 28 at 3 p.m. on the CDBG water grant for the Estill Fork area.
